At long last the Mission Stories DVD and manual are available to be used. Mission Stories comes out of the Queensland Synod’s Vision for Mission project, a five year journey of learning focused on stimulating new growth in local initiatives of mission. The six part series uses Queensland stories to encourage people of faith to reflect on their current setting as well as focus on their future direction. It is hoped that the Mission Stories will be a rich resource used in many ways, included in teaching, preaching, study groups, and reminding people about the work of God in many places.
The Queensland Synod of the Uniting Church in Australia is sending out complimentary copies of the DVD to all people in placement in Queensland, including people working in congregations, chaplaincy, teaching roles, Presbytery leadership and Synod staff. Further copies can be ordered from Pilgrim Learning Community (Queensland) and Mediacom (elsewhere in Australia).
The participant’s manual can be downloaded here on the Faith Stories site. See the sidebar for instructions. It is anticipated that the manual will be updated over time. A generic version, without the references to the Uniting Church Basis of Union, will be be made available soon.
This site will also provide an opportunity for people to share about how they have used Mission Stories, including suggestions for prayer, songs, and connection with other themes.
Greetings, this looks excellent I will be getting a copy of the DVD. This looks like one of the most exciting resources I have seen for a while. Just a minor update for the pdf that I downloaded the floods in Emerald were 2008 not 2009.
I hope congregations really embrace this resource and journey their ministers and the minister journey their people and that both embrace and are embrace by the community in which God has placed them as a result of this.
